Introducing JIMMY

By Vedansh Danot ·

Your PC can do a lot of small jobs for you, but only while you’re sitting at it. JIMMY changes that. It runs on your Windows PC and listens to one chat: the one where you message yourself on WhatsApp. Write what you want in plain words, and it gets done.

What you can ask

  • “find the invoice from last week”
  • “how much free space is on my C drive?”
  • “find the Jimmy report on my GitHub and send me the link”
  • “what did Rahul email me today?”
  • “every day at 9am, system info”

Simple requests match a built-in command straight away. Bigger ones become a task: JIMMY replies “On it.”, works through it step by step (looking in folders, running small scripts, checking websites, GitHub or your Gmail) and tells you the result.

You stay in charge

An assistant that can act on your PC needs firm limits. In JIMMY those limits are written in its code, so no message can talk it out of them. Reading and looking things up just happen. Anything that changes something waits for your YES. Messaging people, deleting files or sending email also needs your PIN, and JIMMY deletes your PIN message from the chat straight away. File changes can be undone with one word: undo.

It runs on your PC

There’s no account and no cloud service behind JIMMY. Its memory, logs and settings stay on your computer. The only things that leave are what has to: your WhatsApp messages, and requests JIMMY can’t handle alone, which go to the AI you choose. You can even pick a model that runs on your own PC. The privacy policy spells it all out.

Try it

JIMMY is early software, so start small. Download it for Windows, scan the QR code, choose the folders it may use, set a PIN, and send system info to yourself. Help covers the rest.
