Changelog
What’s new
Every version of JIMMY, newest first. Installed apps update themselves; see how updates work.
Browser and task fixes
Version 0.3.1Latest
Fixed
- “Open wikipedia and tell me…”, “…and open the first video” and misspelt site names like “youtub” now go to your browser.
- “Click book a call” right after “open vedanshh.dev” works on that page instead of getting a chat reply.
- Sending a new request while JIMMY waits on a yes/no question drops the old task instead of treating your message as its answer.
- Pages that draw their content late (like LinkedIn) are read once they’ve settled, a redrawn button is found again by its label, and JIMMY keeps to its own tab instead of opening the same page again.
- Fewer planning slips with small AI models, and Customize → AI engine now warns when the model you picked is a small one.
JIMMY uses your browser and your apps
Version 0.3.0
New
- Works in your own browser. Install the JIMMY extension (Chrome, Brave or Edge) and paste the pairing code from Customize → Your browser. JIMMY then opens pages, reads them, clicks, types and fills in forms for you, in its own “JIMMY” tab group.
- Works in desktop apps. JIMMY reads an app’s buttons and fields and presses them through Windows accessibility, without taking your mouse. For apps that hide their controls, it looks at the screen with your AI and clicks there.
- Its own pixel cursor. A little cat-eared cursor glides to whatever JIMMY is about to use, on web pages and on your desktop. Move your mouse or press Esc to take control back at any moment.
- Teach it by showing it. Say “watch me”, do a task once, then say “done”. JIMMY writes it up as steps for you to approve, and next time you just ask (“add Dune to my watchlist”). Passwords, card numbers and banking or password apps are never recorded.
- Live view in the cat’s chat. See what JIMMY is looking at, the step it’s on and a timer, with Stop, Yes and No buttons right there.
- Hard stops, whatever you allow: JIMMY never types passwords, card numbers or codes, stays off banking, payment and crypto sites, and asks for YES and your PIN before buying anything, changing account security or deleting things. If you’re at the PC, it asks before taking over the screen.
A cat on your taskbar
Version 0.2.5
New
- Cat buddy. A pixel-art cat lives on top of your taskbar. She walks around, sits, naps — and when JIMMY is working she opens her little laptop and types, with “WORKING…” above her head.
- Click her to give JIMMY a task right from your desktop. Her chat box shows the replies (they also go to your WhatsApp). Drag her to move her.
- Pick her colour (orange, black, white, grey, brown, Siamese or pink) or hide her in Customize. She also hides by herself while a full-screen game or video is playing.
- Choose your AI during setup. Pick Antigravity, OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter or your own server. With Antigravity, JIMMY installs it for you in the background and opens its Google sign-in — no terminal or commands to run.
- Dashboard walkthrough. New users get a short guided tour of every section. Skip it any time, or replay it from Customize.
Steadier developer mode
Version 0.2.4
New
- “Suggest features for appwrite” has Claude Code read the project and propose ideas, without changing anything. “Store idea 2” keeps the ones you like.
- The activity log now shows how each developer job ended, and why it failed.
Fixed
- Repos with a file Windows can’t create (like “.prettierrc ” with a trailing space) now clone, skipping just that file. A clone that stopped halfway is repaired.
- “Solve issue 1” works on big repos like appwrite: JIMMY fetches only the branch it needs, not all of them.
- “Find the best 3 issues” reads big issue lists in full.
- “…and make it ready for contribution” and “solve this issue 1” are understood directly.
- “Summarise the latest email” reads your email, not a WhatsApp chat.
- “Which app is using the most memory” answers right away.
- Replies sent while WhatsApp reconnects are delivered instead of lost.
- WhatsApp’s encryption details are no longer written to JIMMY’s log file.
Developer mode
Version 0.2.3
New
- Developer mode. JIMMY works on GitHub repos for you, with your own GitHub CLI and Claude Code. Switch it on in the dashboard (it needs your PIN) and pick a workspace folder.
- “Fork vercel/next.js and make it ready for contribution” forks it (or clones your own repo), reads the contributing guide, installs it and runs the tests.
- “Find the best 3 issues” picks good open issues to work on; “store issue 2” or “feature request: …” keeps them for the project you’re working on.
- “Solve issue 2” has Claude Code fix it on its own branch, then JIMMY runs the tests and sends you a summary. “Revise issue 2: …” changes it, “show the diff” shows it.
- “Open a PR for issue 2” pushes the branch to your fork and opens a draft pull request — always after your YES — and replies with the link.
- Notes page in the dashboard: see, search, edit and export everything you saved with “note: …”, and tick off your lists.
Fixed
- Tests that run scripts on the PC are steadier when the computer is busy.
Camera, and a faster recorder
Version 0.2.2
New
- Camera. “Take a photo”, “click a selfie”, “record a video for 10 seconds”, “record webcam for 20s without sound”, or “take a photo and send it to Krish”. JIMMY asks for your YES before turning the camera on.
- The one-time recorder download (for screen and camera recording) now takes seconds instead of minutes, and shows its progress.
Fixed
- The first screen recording could sit on “Getting the screen recorder ready” for many minutes with no news. A stuck download is now dropped and retried from another source.
- Security updates for two libraries JIMMY uses.
Steadier and smarter
Version 0.2.1
Fixes from a full day of real-world testing.
New
- Pick a contact. When a name matches several contacts, reply with the number from the list (or their phone number) and JIMMY carries on. “Tell Krish (+91 …) that …” uses the number you wrote.
- Disk space and battery in PC status. “How much free space is on my C drive?” now checks your PC.
- Typos don’t trip JIMMY up: “take a screenshot and sent it to me”, “screenshoot”, “summarise”.
- If the AI is busy, JIMMY waits a moment and tries again. If it still can’t answer, it says so plainly.
- Faster, more reliable downloads.
Fixed
- JIMMY no longer stops responding during file searches, even when whole drives are allowed. Searches over three drives take about a second.
- “Search for weather in Pune” searches the web, not your files.
- Open-ended tasks (“which app is using the most memory?”, email summaries) work with Gemini models.
- A reminder could arrive twice.
- “Copy … from my phone to my clipboard” copied the extra words too.
- OpenRouter requests failed on a small balance; the default models are up to date.
Your personal assistant
Version 0.2.0
JIMMY grows from a remote control into an assistant: reminders, a morning briefing, your calendar, photos, inbox triage, notes and lists, PC control and a weekly “what I did” report, all from WhatsApp.
New
- Reminders and schedules by chat. “Remind me at 6 to call mom”, “remind me in 20 minutes to check the oven”, “every Monday 9am send me my calendar”. Say “my reminders” to see them and “cancel reminder 2” to remove one.
- Morning briefing. “Brief me”, or schedule it: today’s calendar, important unread email, the weather, today’s reminders and PC health in one message. Say “my city is Pune” once for the weather.
- Google Calendar. “What’s my day look like?”, “any meetings tomorrow?”, “book 30 min with Krish tomorrow” (JIMMY finds the first free slot and invites them by email, after your YES). In Settings → Gmail & Calendar, click Add Calendar to allow it.
- Photos. Send a photo of an error, a whiteboard or a bill and ask “what’s this?”, “fix this error” or “add this to my expenses”.
- Inbox triage. “Check my inbox” lists the chats waiting for your reply and important email, then drafts each reply. Nothing is sent without your YES for that message.
- Search your own stuff. “What did I decide about the pricing last week?” looks through your notes, recent chats, email and documents and says where the answer came from.
- Notes, lists and expenses. “Note: …”, “add milk and eggs to my shopping list”, “mark 2 done”, “spent 450 on lunch”, “how much did I spend this month?”, plus “how was my week?”.
- PC control. Lock or sleep the PC, “pause Spotify”, “next song”, “volume to 30”, clipboard to and from your phone, “what’s open right now?”, and “close chrome” for a frozen app (after your YES).
- “What I did” report. “What did I do this week?” sums up your git commits (GitHub and local repos), tasks and everything JIMMY did for you. Say “my projects are in D:\Projects” once so it finds unpushed work too.
- Real screenshots and screen recordings, sent back to your chat as an image or a video (“record my screen for 20 seconds”). The recorder downloads once, the first time.
- Find and send in one go. “Find my resume and send it to Krish”, “take a screenshot and send it to me”. File search understands words like “vedansh resume”, and also looks in OneDrive Desktop and Documents.
- When an answer takes more than a second, JIMMY tells you it’s on it.
Fixed
- Email questions. “Summarize the latest email I received” now reads your Gmail instead of saying it can’t.
- Sending a file actually sends it (before, it only checked the file).
- Scheduled tasks now send their result to WhatsApp, and failures are reported as failures.
- Screenshots were a blank placeholder; they now capture your real screen.
- JIMMY waits longer between reconnect attempts when WhatsApp drops, instead of retrying every 3 seconds.
- Security update for the website’s web framework.
Licence keys and a tidier Settings
Version 0.1.3
New
- Licence keys. JIMMY now asks for your licence key, from your dashboard. A key works on one PC at a time; to move JIMMY, revoke the old PC on the website and enter the key on the new one.
- JIMMY confirms your licence once a day and keeps working offline for up to 7 days. If a plan ends or the PC is revoked, JIMMY pauses and asks for a key. Nothing on your PC is deleted, and everything comes back as soon as a valid key is entered.
- A tidier Settings page. Settings is now split into sections (General, WhatsApp, Licence, Integrations, Tasks & PIN, Recovery and Security) with a menu on the left.
- Settings → Licence shows your plan, when it renews, and when JIMMY last checked, with Check now and Use a different licence key.
- A new hand cursor on everything you can click.
Fixed
- Fixed a problem that could stop the dashboard from building.
Gmail, out of the box
Version 0.1.2
New
- Gmail works out of the box. Settings → Gmail → Connect Gmail, sign in, done. Then ask on WhatsApp: “what did Rahul email me today?” or “draft a reply to Rahul”. Sending always needs your PIN.
- If the browser doesn’t open during sign-in, the Gmail settings show a sign-in link you can copy.
Fixed
- Links always open in your browser. Long links (Google sign-in, web searches) sometimes silently did nothing.
- Only web links (http and https) can be opened; other kinds of link are refused.
Ask JIMMY anything
Version 0.1.1
New
- Ask JIMMY anything, not just fixed commands. “Find the Jimmy report on my GitHub and send me the link”, “how much free space is on my C drive?”. JIMMY works it out step by step.
- You stay in control. Read-only steps run on their own. Anything that changes things asks for your YES first. Messaging people, deleting, installing or sending email needs YES and your PIN, and JIMMY deletes the PIN message from the chat right away.
- JIMMY learns skills. When it writes a script that works, it keeps it for next time. Say “show my skills” or “forget skill <name>”.
- Undo that really works. Send “undo” to reverse the last file change JIMMY made.
- Gmail. Search and read your email and write drafts from WhatsApp. Sending always needs your PIN.
- Automatic updates. JIMMY checks for new versions once a day and asks before updating.
Fixed
- Allowed folders work on PCs with short (8.3) folder names.
- Your messages and phone number are no longer written to JIMMY’s log file.
- “status” on WhatsApp shows the real version.
The first Windows app
Version 0.1.0
New
- The first Windows app. A one-click installer (no admin rights), a tray icon, and the dashboard in its own window. JIMMY starts with Windows.
- Control your PC from your own WhatsApp chat: find files, open apps and websites, system info, screenshots, and moving, copying and deleting files with undo.
- Reply to contacts and summarize chats, each confirmed with a single-use code.
- Schedules, shortcuts you teach in plain words, and a memory you can edit.
